There are many considerations when placing storage jars, including location, material, shape, usage, and other precautions.
Location Selection
Wealth Position Placement: A piggy bank can be placed in the bright wealth position diagonally opposite the entrance. This area should be well-lit, and the height should be at eye level when seated; too high or too low is unsuitable. The southeast corner of the living room is also a wealth position. Choose a round ceramic jar and place it there, adding a few fresh lucky bamboo stalks for better effect, but avoid using artificial flowers.
Five Elements Position Placement: The east is the Jia wood position. In the five elements, wood generates fire, and fire generates earth. Earth is the essence of the ceramic jar. Fill a high-quality, handmade traditional ceramic jar with rice (about seven-tenths full), lightly cover the mouth with a red cloth (not completely seal), and place it in the east of the house. Replace the rice on the first or fifteenth of each month. Use the old rice for cooking; do not discard it. This promotes vitality in the home and is suitable for families starting a business or looking to create a new beginning. For the Southern Fire position, place a ceramic jar with red or orange patterns, adding a suitable amount of small red beans in addition to rice, and surround it with red decorations. Gently stir the rice every solar term. Placing this in the south of the house helps enhance the family's reputation and is suitable for families seeking to improve their social standing or interpersonal relationships.
Avoid unfavorable locations: Avoid placing it directly opposite the main door or windows, otherwise wealth will escape; also, avoid placing it next to a lucky cat figurine.
Material and Shape: Metal piggy banks are suitable for those lacking the Metal element in their Five Elements; ceramic jars are more suitable for those with Fire or Earth elements in their Five Elements. From an auspicious perspective, it is not recommended to use figurine-shaped piggy banks; instead, choose shapes like golden pigs, ingots, or zodiac animals.
How to Use: Toss a few coins into the piggy bank each week, like watering your wealth, but don't overfill it; leave room. Clean the jar promptly when it gets dirty, and replace it with a new one when it's full. When emptying the jar, be gentle and ideally, silently make a small wish. You can also add coins regularly to ensure the piggy bank constantly increases in wealth, but be careful not to fill it completely. Once the money jar is full, it's best to replace it with a new one. In Feng Shui, this is called "full jar". It's not advisable to pour out the money from a money jar that symbolizes wealth and is placed in the wealth position, as this is considered a loss of money.
